Asbestos Removal in Atlanta & Surrounding Areas
As an asbestos removal & abatement contractor, it is our goal to protect the general public, our customers and workers, as well as the environment from the hazards of asbestos plus airborne asbestos contaminates. Unfortunately, asbestos can be found almost everywhere. Asbestos has been around for more than 2,000 years dating back to before the Mongols of ancient China. Although some Federal laws prohibiting asbestos removal started to appear in the 1970’s, it’s not going away anytime soon. Between 1950 and 1970 alone, half of the buildings constructed contained some forms of asbestos material. Asbestos can be found in insulation, siding, floor tiles, shingles, caulking, adhesives, pipe / duct sealants and duct work. It is likely that just about everyone has had some exposure to asbestos. Our licensed and experienced technicians are ready to tackle any asbestos removal challenge.
Did You Know?
Physically touching asbestos is not the greatest danger. Inhaling the invisible fine airborne particulates associated with building components containing asbestos can be deadly. It has been linked to cancer, mesothelioma, and other fatal disorders. Asbestos is a mineral mined from the earth like coal. It is basically a rock. When asbestos containing materials are disturbed fibers are released into the air. This microscopic dust has an arrow like shape with sharp edges. Any minor disturbance in a room can cause asbestos fibers to remain in the air almost indefinitely. Simply walking through a room can result in inhaling these dangerous fibers. Due to the extreme dangers associated with exposure to asbestos there are extensive Federal and State mandates surrounding any disturbance of this toxic mineral used in countless building components. There are requirements for training persons performing any asbestos removal or response actions. Inspectors, workers, project supervisors all must take EPA approved classes and pass strict testing. Firms that perform asbestos removal, testing and abatement must be licensed by the governing body within the state they are working in.
